Are you open to the public?
Yes. You do not need a membership. Pay the applicable range fees or clay-usage charges, or explore annual memberships.
Who can use the ranges? Are minors allowed?
Anyone legally able to possess a firearm. Minors must have a parent or guardian present; children must remain under direct parental supervision.
Do you rent equipment?
We do not rent rifles, pistols or archery equipment. Shotgun rentals are available on-site for use on the clays ranges only.
Do you take reservations?
Normal public range use is first come, first served. The 770-yard rifle range is by appointment only.
What are your hours?
Wednesday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Closed Monday and Tuesday for normal public operations. The 770-yard range operates separately by appointment. Check current bulletins for changes.
Where are you located?
900 Big Oak Rd, St. Augustine, FL 32095. Follow Big Oak Road approximately 1.4 miles to the end and enter the gate on the right. Plan your visit.
Do you sell paper targets and protective equipment?
Yes. Complete target setups, reactive target options, paper targets and eye/ear protection are available for purchase on-site. Eye/ear protection can also be rented. Designated steel targets are available on many ranges at no additional charge.
How do I use the 770-yard range?
Qualification is required. The range is available Mondays and Tuesdays by appointment only in select four-hour blocks, at $60 per block. Call 904-819-9868 for qualification information and scheduling.
Do you offer classes?
Our independent training partners provide instruction at the facility. Contact them directly about options, availability and costs. Meet the training partners.
What ammunition and firearms are permitted?
Follow the posted range-specific safety rules. Pistol range: nothing larger than 45 ACP. Rifle range: nothing larger than .308 unless authorized by a range officer. Magnetic, armor piercing and tracer ammunition require range-officer authorization. Ask staff before bringing equipment that requires an exception.
What happens during bad weather?
We continue operating during rain when there is no nearby lightning. During lightning storms, visitors must move to covered areas. Excessive flooding may require the facility to close.
Can I purchase a gift certificate?
Yes—at the Saltwaters office (Camo Building) only. Gift certificates are separate from the independent on-site gun store.
Does Saltwaters sell firearms?
Saltwaters does not sell firearms. An independent tenant operates the on-site gun store. Read about the store. Shotgun rentals are available on-site for use on the clays ranges only. For memberships and range questions, call Saltwaters at 904-819-9868.
What happens to prepaid clays when membership expires?
At check-in, staff will address renewal. Renew by July 31 to retain the discounted clay balance without another initiation fee. If you choose not to renew, remaining discounted clays are converted based on their remaining purchase value at the non-member rate. Read the full membership policy.
Where do I check in?
For rifle, pistol and archery, use the RSO shack marked “Rifle, Pistol Check-In,” near the pistol bays. For shotgun sports, memberships, apparel and gun-cleaning products, use the Saltwaters office (Camo Building), adjacent to the pistol bays. Check in before entering any range or bay. What shoes should I wear?
Closed-toe shoes are required. No sandals, flip-flops or other open-toe footwear. Visitors wearing open-toe shoes will not be permitted to use the ranges.
